As a mom of 2 (and a teacher to 45 kids!) I LOVE this video that I saw over the weekend. I just had to share.
Patience Song from NPkids on Vimeo. I will apologize in advance for waiting so long to get all of the pictures uploaded. My phone has decided that it loves to take the pictures, but getting them downloaded has been more of a challenge. After many failed attempts, Mr. Tansill figured out another way to backup my pictures and I could finally get the blog updated. I hope that you enjoy the pictures from the past month and hopefully I will be better about getting future ones up!
I hope that everyone had an amazing Fall Break! No kid is ready to return back to school after a week off, so for the Monday following the break the fourth graders completed a STEM challenge. Students had to use materials given and create a catapult that would launch a small pom-pom at least 2 feet forward. Together they worked through the engineering process to create something amazing. I was surprised at just how different all of the catapults turned out. Some were successful and some were not, but everyone had a blast and can't wait for the next STEM challenge! (I only wish that I had gotten a picture of each team with their catapult. Next time I'll be sure to!)
At the beginning of September (after we finished learning about the Water Cycle) we headed to the Learning Commons to learn how to create a Powtoon with Mrs. Nelson. (Ask your kid what it is or just Google it, like I had to.) We worked with a partner and created a presentation to share with our classmates. We only have begun to learn the functions of Powtoons, but it seems really cool!
A few math games to practice rounding and a HUGE bird that we saw on the way to PE. Seriously, what has this bird been eating?
August 31 we headed to the Science Lab for another fabulous lesson with Ms. Knobbe. Today we created a smaller version of the water cycle and even learned a little song about it.
