Monday, January 4 will be a teacher workday and students will return on Tuesday. In this nine weeks we have a little bit of catching up to do in science and social studies. We will need to study the 13 colonies before moving into the American Revolution and learning all about how the United States was formed. Science brings a quick review of light (that we did in the science lab before we left for the break) and we will study sound. Afterwards we will delve into space and learn about the solar system including the moon, stars, and the planets (bye Pluto). This will definitely be a very busy nine weeks!
I hope that you have had a chance to recharge and rest over the past 2 weeks. My family and I were fortunate enough to spend Christmas on the Disney Magic and had an amazing time.

We finished up our explorers unit just before the holiday break. We had an activity where students visited different stations with a group and learned a little more about the explorers than what we had studied in class.
We (the fourth grade) created 100 different placemats for Sandy Plains Baptist church to use for their Veterans Day luncheon. The kids had a blast and the creativity that each of them brought to the table was amazing. We wish that we had gotten more pictures, but this will have to do.
