I wanted to send out a quick AESF update:
Sincerely, Matti Jackson AESF President Hi all,
We have a favor to ask....our goal is to have all parents sign up for the class directories on the PTA Website. Having complete directories for each class will allow room parents to effectively communicate with all the parents/students in your class. This will also allow parents to contact one another directly for b-day parties and play dates. Please take a moment to sign up on the PTA Membership Toolkit (link below). You do not even need to join PTA to take advantage of all that the Toolkit has to offer. Once you have registered please complete your directory information. https://addisonpta.membershiptoolkit.com/openforms Signing up with Membership Toolkit is not the same as joining the PTA.Membership Toolkit is the service that empowers you to make purchases, complete paperwork, and coordinate our volunteer efforts —all online. The goal is to save time, and work together more smoothly! Once registered, you can:

We need your help! Quite a few students are not returning homework on a daily basis. We have heard that it was left at home or mom/dad did not put it into their notebooks. This has led to students not being prepared for discussions and for us to observe/assess their progress. We ask that you sign their agenda nightly. Beginning next week, we will be stapling a citation for you to sign and return if their homework is missing. Homework is part of the study skill/work habits on our report card and can determine if a student makes Honor Roll.
We also are requesting that you have a friendly discussion with your child about listening during instructions. We are finding that we are talking over students that are having side discussions and our lessons are being interrupted. This is happening at specials and the Learning Commons too. Please support Addison's 4 Bs - Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Helpful, and Be Safe. Thank you for your support! The Family Fun Carnival Is fast approaching and we need LOTS of volunteers!! Please sign up on the link below!! There is something for everyone. Please pay attention to the type of sign up you are selecting. There is one for Adults, High School Students and 8th Graders. For ADULTS only: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d4cadaa28a13-addison For HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS only: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d4cadaa28a13-addison1 For 8TH GRADE STUDENTS only: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0d4cadaa28a13-addison2 What an exciting day (few minutes) it was. Mrs. Knobbe pointed out so many different cool things, like the shadows on the sidewalk that the leaves were making and the dragonfly type insects that were so low to the ground because they thought night was coming. We had moon pies and Eclipse gum to celebrate and everyone went home with a pair of the eclipse glasses that Foundation purchased. (Be sure to let them know how thankful you are!)
If my phone loved me more than it currently does, I would have had these photos uploaded sooner. Despite a late start, we had a great time at the Fire Safety Village.
We made our first trip to the science lab for a quick introduction and a review of the safety rules. This will allow us to focus on the eclipse that will be occurring on August 21 when we go visit Mrs. Knobbe next week. Students were each given one of the rules of the lab and had to create a short skit about it. The rest of the class then had to guess what the rule was.
We had a very successful first week of school. Thank you for sending in all of the supplies. I know that it seems like a lot, and we are very appreciative of everything. (Believe it or not, we will run out of glue sticks about Christmas time!) Here are a few pictures that I took during those first few days.
