I'm a week late, but I was in a fog (much like the kids) after having a week off. I hope that you had a wonderful time with your family. We have officially switched gears and are doing Science again in class. The focus is a favorite for the kids, the Solar System! This includes planets, stars, why we have day & night and seasons and a few other small topics. We have focused on stars and planets to begin and will have a small (very easy!) quiz on Wednesday 3/7. This will include the planets in order from the sun, a comparison of the inner & outer planets, and a few definition (all of which can be found inside of their science journal.) |
In math we have officially started working with fractions. We have had an introduction to them through our morning work, and the students are doing very well. This week we worked with both fraction tiles and with cuisenaire rods to find equivalent fractions and the value of different sized rods. We have moved on to Volume 2 of the consumable math book. If you are interested in having more practice, I am more than happy to send home the Volume 1 book so that you can work through those concepts from the beginning of the year with your child. Just let me know. We only have 4 weeks and a couple of days of instruction before taking the Georgia Milestone test. Please make every attempt to have your child at school daily and scheduling doctor appointments after school is preferred. |
